Born in Minneapolis on January 23, 1950, Anderson began his television career as Dr. Jeff Webber on General Hospital. After leading roles in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Emerald Point N.A.S., he became internationally recognized as Angus MacGyver across seven seasons of MacGyver from 1985 to 1992.

He later starred as writer and inventor Ernest Pratt in Legend before taking the role of Jack O’Neill in Stargate SG-1. Anderson led the series for eight seasons, served as an executive producer, and returned to the franchise through guest appearances and films. Beyond acting, he has supported environmental and charitable causes, including Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Waterkeeper Alliance initiatives.
